Swing

Blair invited me to do a Father's Day road trip with he and Nathan to the area where Blair grew up.  We traveled from Dunedin to Gore, then on to Tuatapere where Blair went to school.  We spent the night there, and traveled on to Monkey Island, Cozy Nook, Riverton, Invercargill, Waipapa Point, and Jack's Blowhole.  The next few entires are about the things I saw and some observations made.

Ski!

This past weekend was the Otago Secondary Schools Skiing Championship. I volunteered to be the school rep and enjoyed skiing at Cardrona and Coronet Peak.

Skiing conditions were tolerable.  There has not been a lot of snow this year but the view were spectacular.  The skiing terrain is a lot different than North American slopes.  All of the skiing is above the tree line.

The popular 3Ski ski bike.

This is NOT the preferred method for leaving the slopes at the end of the day.  An unfortunate skier being airlifted to Dunedin.

Buttie

That's pronounced Butt-tee.

One of the staples of the Dunedin Farmers Market is the Bacon Buttie.  A bacon butte is two pieces of white bread with bacon, grilled onion, pickle relish, tartare sauce, and mustard.

Mmmm-mmm!  Them's good eatin'!
